I've just read it here, and I've read it on so many other boards. People want Columbus to be either relocated or contracted from the league, and I don't understand why. Check out these attendance stats (/home game):
2003/2004 - 17,340 2002/2003 - 17,745 2001/2002 - 18,135 2000/2001 - 17,457
Over the last 4 years they've averaged better attendance than Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver. Pretty impressive #'s for a consistant bottom feeder of the NHL.

And I forgot to mention that I think they've actually made a 1 or 2 million profit both this year and last.

I know I said the Blue Jackets should be relocated. To me it has nothing to do with the fans- you're right, they are dedicated. It's not fair what they've been forced to watch. It does go back to what I had said about contraction, however. If there was less dilution, we wouldn't have teams that were full of 4th liners like the Blue Jackets. They have one star, and that's it. How long is Rick Nash going to stay in Ohio? His value is going to increase.

I've never really had a problem with Columbus. Although, I must admit, I am suprised by your numbers.

Your saying we should move a team from a city that has obviously displayed that their fans are loyal, and are willing to stay with their NHL franchise through the dark days?

If any teams need to be contracted, it would have to be the least profitable ones.

ACTUALLY Dave what I'm suggesting is the BJs stay in Columbus and see better players with contraction and a new CBA (thus making them able to afford Rick Nash).

Unless the Blackhawks get together they'll continue to stumble. Dont they have one of the poorest attendance the last few years? And the Islanders cant sell out unless its a Rangers game. Those two teams are doing much worse than the BJ's

Carolina needs to go, plain and simple.

I remember Marty Gelinas once said he could walk down the street in Carolina with his jersey on and everyone would think he was a fan . Definitely not a hockey city, and I dont think it ever will be

I have no problem with Columbus, just their name. It's not catchy and really stupid. If I was Commish, I would change the teams name to something better, like the Columbus Cottonmouths - wait thats already taken.
