I guess they could end up in Regina as well, since I have met 4 baseball fans from there. That's 2 more than are in Mont.

Peter Angelos, the owner of the Orioles doesn't want the competetion so its unlikely that washington will get the team. My bet is portland.

I think the Expos will be moved to to either Richmond, VA or Portland, OR. They'll either keep the Expos in the East to keep the same divisions, or move them out west, and switch Pittsburgh to the East and Colorado to the Central. Puerto Rico blew it's opportunity by have real shitty attendance for the 22 games there (granted, having the Expos playing doesn't generate crowds at either of their homes). I doubt Monterrey will be much of a haven for baseball once the newness wears off. Las Vegas isn't that big of a city, so the fan base could be quite small there, too.

I doubt if VA can support a MLB team, for the same reason that I doubt that DC could. True, Portland has a strong grass-roots movement in place to attract MLB, so there is real possibility there. I personally think they'll end up in Vegas. It's just as big a city as Portland -- eire.census.gov/popest/data/cities/tables/SUB-EST2003-01.xls...and residents in Vegas are starved for an entertainment outlet other than the casinos. Henderson, NV and other bedroom communities of Vegas are growing fast. Top it off with the big big big $$$$ of resources of the area, Las Vegas is my pick.

I would be completely surprised if they did not move to Portland. Washington and Virginia are out of the question due to the Orioles, San Juan blew their chance, I can't see a team in Mexico, and there has been no talk about San Antonio or Sacremento.

Texas and northern California don't need third teams. If Charlotte put more effort, they would be an easy choice, since Carolinans have no sports to root for during the summer. Or, perhaps the Expos can stay in Canada by moving to Vancouver.

What about that city in Northern Virginia, that was second in the running?
