www.theahl.com/AHL/News/2005/03/22/968937.htmlOkay.....whats with the name? The excuses from Toronto fans for the rock bottom attendance when our AHL team was there was that they didn’t want to support the Roadrunners - despite that they argue they are the worlds greatest hockeytown and will support any hockey, let alone Maple Leafs hockey - who were the farm team for the Oilers. They are playing at Ricoh Coliseum, a new arena by the shore of Lake Ontario. I wonder how well they will be supported? Given the Maple Queef connection, I think they’ll do aight.

Oh joy, another Toronto team TSN can ramble on about. Just what we need I think they'll get good support too Hootch, and we'll constantly be remind what a great team they are, even when they're at the bottom of the standings

Hootch, to clarify, the name Marlies stems from the old Toronto Marlboros, who were around during the golden age of hockey, but the team wouldn't have wanted to name the new team after a cigarette company, hence, Marlies.

The Queefs were founded on a name of a cigarette company? Hopefully they do better in Toronto than the RRs did. World's best hockey city my ass. They couldn't sell out in a convenient location.

That’s the point.
Toronto is a great Laffs city, but Toronto wishes it could hope to be even half the sports city that Edmonton is.
(Yeah, I’m an arrogant, self-congratulatory asshole)
