Is anyone planning on picking up this piece of handheld hardware when it comes out? I was pretty shocked at the quality. It basically has the power of a PS2 in the palm of your hand. Only problem is, it fetches for a steep tag at 300 bucks CND. I have a feeling that Nintendo is going to be in trouble with their DS system when this thing hits the streets.

I'm sure they will have some titles ported over. But it will have an ample amount of its own titles. For instance, Rockstar is making a GTA just for the PSP.

It's being released with a barrage of games. It supports a mini disk called UMD format. Movies will also be released for it, so you can port and watch on trips etc. The first bunch of shipments come with Spider Man 2 on UMD. The screen is 16:9 aspect ratio, and it takes up almost the whole face of the device, which is nice for a hand held.

My feeling is that Nintendo could be in trouble here. Nintendo sits in third place on the console market, behind Sony and Microsoft. But they make up for it with their handheld market, which generates phenomenal financial earnings for them. Sony is sitting pretty on top of the console industry, and if they crack the handheld market they can seriously damage Nintendo.
