This poem is based on a true story. I wrote it about a real life cancer victim. It's not my greatest piece of work, but that's not important here. When I heard about this, I knew I had to write something about it. Here's what I came up with.
The Sweetest goodbye
There once was a little boy. He was missing an arm on one side And the hair on his head, But his smile was still intact, Even though he felt pain everyday. His mother was very proud of him. He got good marks in school, And was very popular too. But despite all that, He was always in the hospital. His mother would always tell him "you're going to be a star". Sometimes he could'nt speak, But when he could he'd reply "in the night sky right mommy?" She would then smile and nod. Then after a while the treatment had to be increased. More chemotherapy was needed, More pain had to be tolerated. He handled it very well at first. But then it became overwhelming. And soon it became apparent, That he was going to lose this fight. In his hospital bed on his final night, He asked his mother where he's going to go. "With the angels" she said. "They're going to bring you up to the clouds". "But I don't want to leave mommy" he cried. "I don't want to be alone by myself". "You won't be alone dear", "God will take care of you" she said while holding back tears. "I love you mommy" he whispered with his last breath. "I love you too hunny" she cried. "Can you hold my hand" he whispered She complied, but the hand was then lifeless.

I'm thinking that song would be like Metallica's Unforgiven.
