Need a cab? Telus Mobility is launching #TAXI!
September 02, 2004
#TAXI is a service that allows callers to connect to the first available cab company by dialing #8294(TAXI). The call routes to an IVR and the caller identifies their city and/or preferred cab-company. The service will be available in all service areas (includes roaming areas) across Canada.
Limited Time Promotion Calls to #TAXI will be offered at no charge until Sept 30. At the end of the promotional period, callers will be charged $1.25 (+GST) + airtime for the call (according to their rate plan). Calls will show as #TAXI on the clients invoice.
In cases where call can not be completed to a taxi company (i.e. poor voice recognition) clients will be routed to directory assistance. The call will still appear as #taxi (with the $1.25 service charge) on client's invoice. They will not be billed the additional service charge for the directory assistance part of the call but they will be billed airtime for the entire call.
Thought I'd pass this on. Can't tell you all how many times I've been way too drunk to remember the cab company's number.... This should help.

Fuck Telus. That is the worst company I've ever dealt with. I have decided that they will never get money from me ever again. I use shaw for internet, rogers for cell, & sprint for my land line. I'd like to take a big shit on their boardroom table.

I think you guys are confusing a few things... First of all, Telus and Telus Mobility are run absolutely seperately. So, when I bring up something Telus Mobility is implementing... different company. Secondly, sure you have service with Sprint and Rogers, but who are they paying to have the use of their towers and lines?... You're still paying Telus, albeit through a roundabout way. Certainly you don't have to deal with them anymore, and I suppose that's what is important to you. You'd be amazed at how many people hate Shaw and Sprint and Rogers and Bell and LOVE calling to complain about them.... I can assure you one thing... People are human and make mistakes. And when someone spends a half hour yelling at you for someone else's mistake, it really doesn't make you want to help them....
At the same time I find it odd how some people have so many problems with Telus, and yet others have nothing but wonderful things to say about Telus's customer service. One thing I have noticed working at Telus Mobility is that those who hate our customer service are usually the ones making unreasonable demands.
"I know this is the fourth time I've lost my cell phone! Why the hell can't you get me another! I've been with you people for 2 years!" Get a fricken grip. Does Shaw give you a new T.V. when you break yours? Nope. Why not? Cause people would break them all the time....

Well, now I'm just going to have to cut off my cell, land line & penis.. errr, maybe I'll leave my penis attached. As for the third paragraph, I'm sure you've encountered the wackos who want everything. I do not doubt that. My beef with telus began with ordering a land line. They scheduled it for 5 weeks after I moved into my new place. I may have been ok with that, but I called 3 weeks before I moved. 5+3 equals a long fucking time... OK, so I had to accept that. I had a big black ring around the day on my calender. I took the afternoon off work, because they were so nice as to tell me that the guy would absolutely be there after 1:00 pm. Miss an afternoon of work, $80 out of my pocket. La de da, so my afternoon slips by & nary a doorbell rang. My trusty cellphone gets called into action around 5:00 & I dial the customer service line, where I am on hold for LITERALLY AN HOUR AND A HALF!!!!!!!!! My anger level is rising... Finally a rep answers my call. I politely inform her of the situation, and she politely informs me that the tech was there at 10:00 am. Since I was not there to answer the door, I got bumped back down the wait list & have to wait another 3 weeks for a phone. At this point I told the rep that I was not directing my at her, but since I am talking to her, she would have to pass on my message to her manager. The message was that Telus FUCKING SUCKS, I will live without a phone line & I will never use any of their services again. She told me she would tell her manager. That was the last conversation I ever had with Telus. For the record, this is not the only time telus has pissed me off royally. I used to use adsl from them. The service (in my neighbourhood I guess) was down 3 times in one month. I can handle that. What I can't handle is when I call to inquire about an eta for resumption of service, or wether the problem is actually my modem, I am on hold for 1 hour, 2 hours, I've even spent 3 hours on hold. One day I was on hold for around 2 hours. My handheld started to die, so I had to put it on the cradle & sit by it with the speaker. I decided to run to the washroom & take a leak. Murphy's law... I come running back just to hear the tail end of a very loud hello (I'm guessing her 3rd or 4th) & a click. What can I say. My fault I guess. I should have taken the phone to the washroom so that she could pick up mid flush. As far as telus mobility being separate from telus... Well, they sound the same. I'm still skeptical, but I'll temporarily suspend telus mobility bashing. I've never even dealt with them, & probably never will. My sister sure has a few bad thing to say about her tm phone.

One time Telus Mobility threw a water balloon at my car. I will never deal with them again.

I can garauntee you that you would never be on hold for that long with TM. The longest wait I've ever seen is 10 minutes. Our goal is to answer 80% of all calls within 20 seconds... and it usually works out that way. The reason we're seperate: So that if you have bad credit with one, you can still get a phone with the other... the two don't talk to each other, at all. It's too bad you had such issues with Telus. They did have huge issues last summer, (ones that TM never encountered,) in regards to service levels. However, I'm certain that if you use your Rogers or Bell or Fido phone long enough, you'll have issues with them too. That's how stuff works. No company is perfect. Unfortunately for me, I get a lot of slack because of Telus....

So you work for Telus Mobility? I was wondering with all the advertising you were giving them... PS:Telus Mobility didn't really throw a water balloon at my car, that's just a metaphor I made up to show what they did to my heart PPS:I actually don't know what a metaphor is, so the above may or may not make sense ;D

The reason I was 'advertising' is because I think #TAXI is a fantastic idea. If it were Bell or Rogers or whoever, it doesn't matter. The fact that I can go to St Johns in NFLD and get tanked and use the same number there as I do here to call a cab is great. I don't need to remember anymore! That's all. If a different company came out with a great idea, I'd let you know of that too...
