When I vote in an election, I vote for the MP who will represent the wishes and views of his constituents, not one who votes to further his own personal religious beliefs. I have real issues with an MP bringing his own personal beliefs to a vote on something so huge, something that will have huge ramifications on the rights of others. You can imagine the uproar should 'white' MPs vote their personal beliefs against a certain minority group such as the Sikh population in Canada!!
When the re-instatment of capital punishment came up for the vote, our local Liberal MP was well aware that the majority of people in our riding were pro CP. He went to Ottawa and voted against it, effectively helping kill the passing of it. I have no respect or use for those who act in such a manner against the wishes of the people who elected them in the first place.

Good points CG.
On another note, why don't these religious groups stick to playing politics within their own social groups. Christians or Sikhs that condemn homosexuality, should do so within their own communities.

I'm getting Sikh of gay marriage being discussed in politics. There are more pressing issues than two fags wanting to get married. Though, it certainly is a change from the daily Schiavo dilemma. Just my opinion.....

Heh! That was a good play on words.
I don't give a shit about two guys wanting to marry. Stay out of their lives, they aren't yours.
Call them infidels and damn them for eternity, whatever, let them be.
