Call me a purist but when the dust settles I'd like to have the Flames in the "Smythe Division" again. If Colorado is in the same division as us, it should not be called the Northwest division.

Oh cmon, having the divisions named after our location helped Nuck trolls learn where we live. Id like to see the old division names too, but I doubt it will happen

I don't care if they don't know where they live, get a tattoo on your arm or something.

Yelle >> Dingman Yelle's a smart hockey player who contributed somewhat to that Cup win. He's one of the best defensive forwards in the game. Maybe Niemenen on the 2001 Avs, or Simon on the 1996 Avs. Those I can accept. BUT had the Flames won the Cup this year, both Simon and Nemo would have been deserving. Stephane Yelle contributed A LOT to that Cup run. Not somewhat. In my personal opinion, he is the 3rd most valuable Flame on that roster right now. Sure goals and assists look great on the stat sheet, but this guy wins games time and time again. He should be considered and untouchable. I know it may be difficult for non-Flames fans to understand this, but if you watch the Flames on a regular basis, it becomes pretty evident. Also Dan Hinote is a great player, with not enough ice time. Similair to that of Drury and Reinprecht. Thirdly, keep the Division names the same. Their fine. Keep the team in Nashville, I think Nashville still has the oppurtunity of being a decent hockey city in the States.

No shit Dave I just like to bug Sandra....We had a Yelle debate before. But Ill stick by my opinion Hinote isnt that great. Not as bad as players like Worrell, but if the league was smaller he wouldnt make it

No dont get me wrong I do...I put him on par with Linden as a great defensive player. I think SOME Flames fans overrate him though.

Don't think I don't know that by "SOME Flames fans", you mean me and Sandra. No, not you and Sandra.....You guys are two of the most level headed Flames fans I know.....Some who said well we didnt have Yelle so that equals you not having Bertuzzi for the playoffs. Bertuzzi on his game is slightly better than Yelle

I should let you know that the Jackets made a profit this year according to Forbest, and they usually sell out.
I'm thinking of cutting 9 teams that are in markets that won't survive or are already dead, and bringing back Winnipeg, Hartford and Québec City.
-Anaheim -Phoenix -Washington -Atlanta -Tampa Bay -Carolina -Florida -Buffalo -Nashville
That's 24 teams. Go back to the old divisional format:
Campbell Conference
Smythe division:
Calgary Edmonton Los Angeles Vancouver Winnipeg
Norris division:
Chicago Colorado Dallas Detroit Minnesota St. Louis
Prince of Wales Conference
Adams division:
Columbus Montreal Ottawa Pittsburgh Québec Toronto
Patrick division:
Boston Hartford New Jersey New York Islanders New York Rangers Philadelphia
To get Hartford, merge Tampa, Florida, Anaheim To get Winnipeg, merge Atlanta, Buffalo, Washington To get Québec, merge Nashville, Phoenix, Carolina
So you get them by merging teams. That way the owners don't have to buy out contracts and they can slowly sell away their involvement with the team.
To improve the on ice game I like this...
-Full 2 minute penalty served -Suspend fighters for 1 game -Use the AHL's bigger lines -Use the AHL's lines behind net -Shootout after a scoreless OT -No points for OT or shootout loss/1 point for OT or shootout win/2 points for regulation win -72 game season: 6 games vs. division/4 games vs. conference/1 game vs. 1 division of opposite conference and 2 games vs. 1 division of opposite conference -Home and home series with each divisional rival -Be more strict on penalties -Go back to divisional playoff format
